What Does Junk Removal Take — and What Can’t It Take in Silverdale?
What Does Junk Removal Take — and What Can’t It Take?
One of the most common questions we get at Silverdale Junk Co is simple: will you take this? The answer is yes for the vast majority of household and commercial items. But there are a few things we legally cannot haul. Here is the complete breakdown so you know exactly what to expect before you call.
What We Take
Furniture
Sofas, sectionals, beds and bed frames, mattresses, dressers, tables, chairs, desks, bookshelves, entertainment units — all of it. Condition does not matter. We take broken, water-damaged, and heavily worn furniture that cannot be donated.
Appliances
Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, microwaves, water heaters, and window AC units. Working or not — we take them all and route them to certified recyclers in Kitsap County.
Electronics
TVs of any size, computers, monitors, printers, gaming consoles, stereos, and other e-waste. Electronics require special recycling handling — we make sure they go to certified e-waste facilities rather than landfill.
Yard and Outdoor Items
Lawn furniture, BBQ grills, play structures, trampolines, swing sets, hot tubs, sheds, fencing, yard debris, branches, and brush.
Construction Debris
Drywall, lumber, roofing materials, old cabinets and countertops, flooring, tile, fixtures, and renovation waste. We do not take asbestos-containing materials — see below.
General Household Junk
Boxes, bags, clothing, toys, books, sporting goods, tools, exercise equipment, and general clutter. If it has been sitting in your garage, attic, or basement for years, we will take it.
Specialty Items
Pianos, safes, pool tables, large aquariums, and other oversized or heavy items that standard garbage pickup will not touch.
What We Cannot Take
A small category of items are regulated under Washington State and federal law — they require special handling that goes beyond standard junk removal:
Hazardous Liquids and Chemicals
Liquid paint (latex or oil-based with liquid remaining), gasoline, motor oil, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, and pool chemicals cannot be hauled in our trucks. Dried or empty paint cans are fine. Kitsap County Solid Waste has a hazardous waste drop-off programme for these materials — we will point you in the right direction.
Propane Tanks
Full or partially full propane tanks — including small camping-size canisters — are not accepted. Empty, fully depressurised tanks may be taken on a case-by-case basis.
Asbestos-Containing Materials
Insulation, floor tiles, roof shingles, or ceiling texture that may contain asbestos must be handled by a licensed abatement contractor before removal. This is a legal requirement in Washington State — not a policy preference.
Medical and Biohazard Waste
Sharps, medical waste, and biohazard materials require a licensed medical waste disposal company.
